Mumbai Horror Repeats Blue Drum Pattern: Man Murdered, Body Stuffed in Drum and Dumped in Drain
A shocking murder case from Mumbra, Thane reveals a crime similar to the Meerut Blue Drum case, where a man was allegedly killed by his girlfriend and accomplices, stuffed into a drum, and dumped in a drain. Police investigation led to arrests after confession, with key accused still absconding and a detailed probe underway into the extortion-driven motive and brutal execution of the crime.
The victim, identified as Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a resident of Mumbra in Thane, left his home on April 3 stating that he was going to Dadar for work. However, he never returned home, prompting concern among his family members.
After repeated unsuccessful attempts to trace him, Khan’s father filed a missing person complaint at the Mumbra Police Station. Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and examined call detail records along with location data to track his movements.
Investigators discovered that Khan’s last known location was in the Vasai area. The mobile phone of his girlfriend, Mehjabeen Sheikh, was also traced to the same location, raising suspicion and leading to her detention for questioning.
According to Priya Dhankne, Additional Commissioner of Police, Mehjabeen initially denied involvement but later confessed during sustained interrogation. She admitted to planning and executing the murder of Khan along with her husband Hasan, her brother Tariq Sheikh, and one of Hasan’s associates.
Police stated that the motive behind the crime was extortion. When the accused failed to extract money from Khan, they allegedly tied his hands, assaulted him with a plastic pipe, and killed him. The body was subsequently placed inside a green plastic drum and dumped into a drain in the Mumbra area.
Following the confession, police arrested Mehjabeen Sheikh and her brother Tariq Sheikh. Tariq is reported to have prior criminal cases registered against him. Meanwhile, Mehjabeen’s husband Hasan and his associate remain absconding. A case of murder, criminal conspiracy, and related offences has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
The incident draws a disturbing parallel to the Meerut Blue Drum Murder case, where a similarly gruesome method of body disposal was used, highlighting a recurring pattern of brutality that has shocked law enforcement agencies and the public alike.
